How to play Spider Crayon
- Pick 1, 2 or 4 suits and press Deal. Ten columns are dealt with the top card of each face up, and 50 cards wait in the stock.
- Move a card onto any card one rank higher, in any suit (a 7 on an 8). A run of cards can move together only when it is all one suit, in order.
- When a column has a full run of one suit from King down to Ace, it lifts off and spins one strand of the web. Eight runs win the game.
- Stuck? Press Deal to put a new card on every column. You can only deal when no column is empty, and there are five rows in the stock.
- Drag a card or a run, or tap it to send it to its best spot. Fewer moves mean a higher score: you start at 500, lose 1 per move and gain 100 per run.
About this game
Spider Crayon is classic two-deck Spider solitaire on a dark aubergine desk with bone-white cards drawn in pen and crayon. Start with 1 suit, where almost every deal can be won; three wins open 2 suits, and five two-suit wins open 4 suits, where all four suits have their own ink colour so they read apart at a glance. With Winnable only on, every deal has been won by a solver first. Each King-to-Ace run you complete spins one strand of a spider web across the table; finish all eight and the spider you drew yourself drops into the middle. Play Relaxed with free undo and hints, or Scored, where undo costs a point and a hint costs five; Scored turns on after your first win. Every win earns up to three stars (win, under par, no undo or hint), and wins unlock card backs: Moth, Web, Obsidian and Silver Thread. The Daily deal is the same for everyone each day and keeps a daily streak. If you reload by accident, your deal comes back paused.

Questions
Is Spider Crayon free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with nothing to download and no sign-up.
What is the difference between 1, 2 and 4 suits?
With 1 suit every card is a spade, so any run can move together and most deals can be won. With 2 suits (spades and hearts) and 4 suits, only runs of one suit move together, so you need to plan which cards to stack. 2 suits opens after 3 one-suit wins, 4 suits after 5 two-suit wins.
Can every deal be won?
With Winnable only on (the default), yes: each deal comes from a list of deals a solver has already won. Turn it off for fully random deals, some of which cannot be won, especially with 4 suits.
How does scoring work?
You start at 500. Each move or deal costs 1 point and each completed run adds 100, so a perfect game scores over 1,100. In Scored mode an undo costs 1 more point and a hint 5. Stars: one for the win, one for winning at or under par (150 moves with 1 suit, 200 with 2, 260 with 4) and one for winning without undo or hints.
Why can't I deal a new row?
Spider rules: every column needs at least one card before you deal. Move a card or a run into the empty column first.
What happens if I reload the page?
Your current deal is kept for this browser tab and comes back paused, with your moves, score and time. Wins, bests, streaks and unlocks are saved in this browser.
