- Draw a pattern for your snake's skin, or pick a ready-made one.
- Steer with the arrow keys or WASD. Playing by touch (phone, tablet or touch-screen laptop), use the on-screen D-pad; swiping or tapping beside the head works too.
- Eat an orb quickly after the last one to raise your combo, up to x8 points. The window starts at 3.5 seconds and shrinks each level.
- Every 5 orbs you level up and speed up; from level 2 a new block appears each level, and from level 4 sparks roam the board. Hexagon power-ups give you Ghost (pass through) or Slow-mo for 5 seconds.
- Grab the gold star before it fades for 50 points times your combo. Don't hit your tail or, in Classic, the walls.
About this game
Doodle Snake is the classic snake game with a neon arcade feel and a twist of your own: you draw the pattern your snake wears. Chain orbs quickly to build a combo of up to x8, survive the speed-ups, the blocks from level 2 and the sparks from level 4, grab Ghost and Slow-mo power-ups, and chase gold stars for big points. Higher best scores unlock new ready-made skins. Play Classic with solid walls or No walls, where you slide out one side and back in the other. If you reload by accident, your run comes back paused.

On a phone or tablet: Steer with the D-pad bottom left (swipe or tap beside the head also works); the Pause button sits bottom right. The controls appear as soon as you play by touch, on a touch-screen laptop too, and step aside when you press a key. The pause menu sets On-screen controls (Auto, Always or Off), Left-handed and Vibrate. Upright or sideways both work.

Is Doodle Snake free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with nothing to download and no sign-up.
How does the combo work?
Eat the next orb within the combo window and your multiplier goes up by one, to a maximum of x8. The window is 3.5 seconds at level 1 and shrinks to 2 seconds. The ring around your snake's head shows the time left. Miss it and the combo goes back to x1.
How do I unlock skins?
Dots unlocks at a best score of 150, Zigzag at 400 and Rainbow at 800. A skin you draw yourself is always available.
What happens if I reload the page?
Your current run is kept for this browser tab and comes back paused. Your best scores and skins are saved in this browser.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Play opens full screen with a D-pad and a Pause button under your thumbs, upright or sideways. They also appear on a touch-screen laptop as soon as you tap, and hide again when you use the keys. The pause menu has On-screen controls (Auto, Always or Off) and Left-handed to swap their sides.
