Road Sign Hero: DMV Driving 3D
Permit Test & Road Rules Game
Learn the road by driving it: a 3D driving game on real streets in 10 US states, where every stop sign, school zone and merge teaches a rule you need for your permit test.
- iPhone and iPad
- 10 US states, 80 levels
- 100+ MUTCD road signs
- Free to start
- No account needed

What it is
A driving game that teaches the rules
Not a quiz with a car on top: you learn each sign and rule where it happens, on the road, and see exactly what to do next time.

Drive real roads
Drive real roads. Learn real rules.
Every level is a real stretch of road, rebuilt in 3D from OpenStreetMap map data and USGS elevation: steep Russian Hill in San Francisco, Highway 1 through Big Sur, the Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys, Midtown Manhattan and more.
- Steering wheel, pedals, turn signal and an in-car view with working mirrors
- Wet roads, braking distance and steep hills

Replay and rule cards
Slow replay shows what went wrong
Break a rule and the game replays it slowly from above, then shows the rule card: what you should have done, where the rule comes from and the date it was checked.
- Stop signs, pedestrians, school buses, rail crossings, mirrors and signals
- Practice the rule you missed right away

Permit practice test
Practice your permit test
Written test practice for your home state, quick questions after every drive on the signs you just met, and a Daily Drive aimed at your weakest signs and rules.
- Set your test date and watch your Permit Readiness grow
- Practice only: the real test can look different

10 states, 80 levels
Real drives in every state
Pick your home state and drive its 8 levels, from quiet streets to highways, a parking level and the Road Test. Then take a road trip across the other nine states.
- Rules that differ by state are labeled with the state
- Road Test with an examiner who reads out the commands

Sign Book
Collect over 100 road signs
More than 100 U.S. road signs from the federal MUTCD, with their shape, color and what to do. Spot them on the road and practice the ones you keep missing.
- Regulatory, warning, school and work zone signs
- A practice test straight from the Sign Book

Questions
Is this the official DMV test?
No. Road Sign Hero is a practice game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any DMV or government agency, and the practice test format may differ from your state's real test. Always follow your state's official driver handbook and the signs on the real road.
Which states are in the game?
Ten states at launch: California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina and Michigan, with 8 levels each. You pick your home state first; rules that differ by state are labeled with the state. More states come in updates.
What is free and what is Premium?
Free: your home state's first three levels, the Sign Book, the Daily Drive and a limited written test. Premium: every level in your home state including the Road Test, every other state and every car in the Garage, as a one-time purchase or a yearly plan. The price for your country is shown in the app before you buy.
Where do the rules and signs come from?
Signs follow the federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Rules are written in our own words from state driver handbooks and vehicle codes, the MUTCD and the Uniform Vehicle Code. Settings › Sources and credits lists every source and the date we checked it.
Are the roads real?
Each level is built from OpenStreetMap map data and USGS elevation, so the shape of the road is real. Signs and routes in the game can differ from today's real roads, and the game is not for navigation.
What about my privacy?
There is no account. Your progress stays on your device and syncs through your own iCloud. If you share your best runs, other players see your Game Center name on your car. What the app collects and why is in the Road Sign Hero privacy policy at roadsignhero.com/privacy.
When can I play it?
Road Sign Hero is being tested and is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
