How to play Doodle Cub: Through the Page
- The sheet has two sides and you see both: the front and the back, side by side (one above the other on an upright phone). Cub starts on the front and his den is on the back.
- Draw a line on either side with your mouse or finger. The ink soaks through the paper: the same line appears on the other side, mirrored, and it is solid there too.
- Press Go (Space). Cub walks right on his own, steps up small kerbs, walks up and down slopes, and falls off edges. At the front's right edge he turns the page and carries on at the back's left edge, at the same height.
- A line can be a bridge on one side and a low ceiling that stops him on the other. Washi tape keeps ink on its own side, punched holes go through both sides and cut your ink, and red-pen spikes end the walk unless a line covers them.
- Your pen has a set amount of ink for each page. Use par or less for three stars, up to one and a half times par for two. A hint shows one way to do it but caps the page at two stars.
- Retry (R) keeps your lines; Undo (Z) removes the last one. Each page hides a berry: collect them to dress Cub in a scarf, round glasses and the Doodle Cub crown.
About this game
Doodle Cub: Through the Page is the Doodle Cub brand game: a drawing puzzle on both sides of one sketchbook sheet. Cub, the Doodle Cub bear, starts on the front of the page and his den is on the back. You help with a fountain pen, and the ink soaks through the paper: every line you draw also appears on the other side, mirrored, and it is solid on both. A bridge across a gap on the front lands somewhere on the back, where it might be a second bridge, a slide down a drop that is too high to jump, a lid over red-pen spikes, or a low ceiling that stops Cub in his tracks. So every stroke has to work twice. The paper itself joins in: washi tape keeps ink on its own side, and punched holes go through both sides, where no ink can go. Ten handmade pages each add one idea, from a first line across a gap to a final page with tape, a hole and a mirror to mind all at once. Stars come from ink, each page hides a berry, and berries dress Cub in a scarf, round glasses and the crown from the Doodle Cub logo.

Questions
Is Doodle Cub: Through the Page free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with nothing to download and no sign-up. Your stars and berries are saved in this browser.
Why did my line stop Cub on the back?
Ink soaks through the page, so every line is also on the other side, mirrored. A line that is a bridge on the front can be a low bar or a ceiling on the back. Draw it somewhere its mirror is harmless, or draw it on washi tape, which keeps ink on its own side.
Can I play it on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Draw with your finger; Go, Undo, Retry, Hint and Pause are large on-screen buttons. Upright phones show the front above the back; sideways screens show them side by side.
How do the stars work?
Each page has a par amount of ink. Finish at or under par for three stars, up to one and a half times par for two, and any finish for one. Using a hint caps that page at two stars.
What are the berries for?
Each page hides one. Three berries give Cub a scarf, six a pair of round glasses and nine the Doodle Cub crown.
