How to play Daily Doodle Word
- Open today's doodle. One stroke is already drawn, and the slots show how many letters the word has. The category is your clue.
- Guess now for the full 1,000 points, or draw the next stroke to see more. Each stroke lowers the points on the table.
- Type your guess on the on-screen letters or your keyboard and press Guess. A miss costs 100 points and one of your four tries, and tells you how many letters sit in the right place.
- A word that is close in meaning (couch for sofa) earns a free nudge instead of a miss.
- Stuck? A hint fills in a letter for 150 points: the first letter, then one more on longer words.
- One Daily a day, the same for everyone: Monday is a warm-up, Sunday is fiendish. Solve it every day to build your streak, then share your result as a plain line of text.
- Practice is unlimited. Every solve earns XP toward Rank 30, solves in a row multiply it up to x1.5, and higher ranks open harder doodles and new papers.
About this game
Daily Doodle Word is a word puzzle built around a drawing. Every doodle is drawn in code, stroke by stroke, in an order chosen so the first strokes stay vague and the telling detail comes last: the ears, the spout, the strings. You decide when you have seen enough. A guess at the first stroke is worth 1,000 points; every stroke you wait for, every miss and every hint costs points, and four misses lose the puzzle. There are over 450 words across 15 categories, from Kitchen and Sea life to Myth & magic, each with its own original doodle. The Daily is the same for everyone on a date and changes at your local midnight. Difficulty rises through the week, from Warm-up on Monday through Easy, Medium and Hard to Fiendish on Sunday. Your streak, solve rate, average score and a four-week calendar live in Stats. Practice draws from a pool that grows every day and with every rank, never shows a Daily before its day, and unlocks Night desk, Blueprint, Riso and Neon papers along the way. Reload by accident and your puzzle comes back exactly where you left it.

On a phone or tablet: Everything is on screen: letter keys (an ABC layout with 44 px keys on phones, QWERTY where there is room, or your choice in Settings), Delete, and big Hint, Next stroke and Guess buttons above them. No phone keyboard ever pops up over the doodle. Tap the doodle or Replay to watch it draw again. Turned sideways, the doodle sits on the left and the keys on the right. The layout follows how you play on any screen (touch laptops too): bigger keys at your first finger, key labels back at your next key press; the pause card has On-screen controls (Auto, Always, Off), Left-handed and Vibrate.
Questions
Is Daily Doodle Word free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with nothing to download and no sign-up.
When does the new puzzle arrive?
At midnight where you are. Everyone playing on the same date gets the same doodle, and a countdown on the result card shows when the next one comes.
How is my score worked out?
You start with 1,000 points on the table at the first stroke. Each extra stroke lowers it, down to 100 for the last one; each miss costs 100 and each hint 150. The score never drops below 50 if you solve it.
What does a miss tell me?
How many letters of your guess are in the right place, as a number. There are no coloured letters, so you deduce the rest from the drawing, the category and the letter count.
How do streaks work?
Solve the Daily on consecutive days to build your streak. Missing a day or failing a puzzle resets it. Your best streak is kept, and some papers unlock with a 3 or 7 day streak.
Can I share my result without spoiling it?
Yes. Share copies a plain line of text such as "Got it at stroke 4 of 11 · 1 miss · no hints · 742 pts", with your streak and no hint of the word.
What happens if I reload the page?
Your current puzzle, including strokes seen, misses, hints and typed letters, comes back exactly. Daily results, streaks, practice rank and papers are saved in this browser.
