Hill Doodler

How to play Hill Doodler

  1. Hold Gas to drive right and Brake to slow down or reverse. In the air, Gas tips the nose up and Brake tips it down: land on your wheels, because the run ends if the driver's head hits the ground.
  2. Fuel burns while you drive. Grab the orange cans to refill; they get further apart the further you go, so keep moving and do not waste fuel crawling.
  3. When a wall, a gorge or a slope is too much, draw on the ground ahead of the car. Your line becomes the ground: a ramp onto a wall, a bridge over a gorge, or a cut through a steep hill. Time slows while you draw.
  4. Ink is limited: every metre of line costs a metre of ink. Blue ink pots refill it. Undo takes back your last line for the full ink until the car reaches it. Bedrock (red stripes) takes no ink at all.
  5. Coins come from pickups, big air, flips and every 250 m. Spend them on Engine, Tyres, Fuel tank and Ink well, or a new car, and reach the distance that opens the next stage.

About this game

Hill Doodler is a distance hill-climb game drawn like a field survey map. You drive a small 4x4 over seeded hills as far as your fuel goes, collecting cans, coins and ink. The twist is your pen: anything you draw ahead of the car becomes ground. Draw a ramp onto a sheer wall, lay a bridge over a gorge, carve a gentler line through a ridge, or build a kicker for big air and flips. Ink is scarce, so every line is a choice between fixing what blocks you and reaching the 100-coin prize hanging over a gorge. Five stages each add a twist: Countryside teaches walls and gorges, Desert drags you through soft sand, Arctic hides ice patches, Canyon has bedrock where no ink sticks, and the Moon's low gravity turns every bump into a jump. Coins buy upgrades for the engine, tyres, fuel tank and ink well, and three more vehicles. Every stage has three distance flags, your best run is marked on the map, a Daily route gives everyone the same course each day, and a reload brings your run back paused where you left it.

Questions

Is Hill Doodler free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to download and no sign-up.

Can I play it on my phone?

Yes. Hold the Gas and Brake pedals at the bottom corners and draw ahead of the car with a finger. It works upright or sideways; sideways shows more road. Left-handed swaps the pedals.

What happens to the ground I draw?

Your line replaces the ground under it: draw above the ground to build up a ramp or bridge, or below it to cut down a hill (up to 7 m deep). Ends close to the old ground join it smoothly. It costs one metre of ink per metre of line.

Why did my run end?

A run ends when you run out of fuel and stop, when the driver's head touches the ground, when you fall into a gorge, or when you make no progress for about nine seconds. Coins from the run are always kept.

How do I open new stages?

Each stage opens when you reach a set distance in the one before it: 1,000 m in Countryside opens the Desert, then 1,200 m, 1,400 m and 1,500 m open Arctic, Canyon and the Moon. Upgrades get you there.
